SQWAFFLE GUIDE: Getting Started for SQWAFFLERS (Creators) 

 

Welcome to SQWAFFLE! The Home of the Digital Drop. 

 

We are a free-to-use platform where you grid your human-made creative work, connect with fans, and earn money for your talents. Here’s your quick and simple starter guide to launching your first SQWAFFLE and making your first sales.

 

Before you start: To receive earnings from your sales, you’ll need to connect a PayPal account. This is currently the only payout method we support as a small, scaling team. 

 

1. Upload Your Project

SQWAFFLE guides you step-by-step on upload. You’ll start by uploading:

  • 1. A cover image (used to generate your grid image)
  • 2. Your full creative work — like:
    • A full music album (MP3 or ZIP)
    • A high-res art piece
    • A novel or short story (PDF, EPUB)
    • An audio podcast episode or interview (MP3/WAV)
    • A high-res photograph
    • SQWAFFLE does not currently host video

Your fans will get the full content — not just one square.

You MUST own the copyright and your creative work MUST be human-made (Not Generative-AI). 

 

2. Set Your Grid

Pick a grid size. Options at launch (level 1):

    • 3x3 (9 squares) or 4x4 (16 squares)
    • Each square is available for one Fan to buy
    • (Hint: Sell-out your grid and launch more SQWAFFLEs to unlock bigger grids!)

 

3. Set a Price per Square

  • You choose how much each square costs per download.
  • Options at launch are £3 or £4 (or $, €) per square/download.
  • If 16 squares/downloads are £4 each, you earn £64 (minus 15% commission and payment processor fee) if it sells out.
    • Don’t panic! Even if you don’t sell out:
    • You still receive your money from every sold square.
    • Selling out is the only way to unlock bigger grids and higher price-points after Level 2: 5x5 grid size (25 squares/downloads).

 

4. Choose a Duration

Fans can only purchase squares during your selected window:

    • Options at launch: 3, 7, 10, or 14 days
    • (Hint: Your live SQWAFFLE will end on sell-out within your chosen duration. Keep launching SQWAFFLEs to unlock scheduling!)

 

5. Turn on the Gift Feature (Optional)

Enable Fan Feedback + Gifting to boost engagement:

    • Fans who buy a square/download can leave you Fan Feedback
    • You (the Sqwaffler) choose your FFF (Favourite Fan Feedback)
    • You can gift them a digital bonus
      • Examples: Digital gifts can be exclusive PDFs, images, bonus tracks, early-access content, or personalized messages.
        • – Musicians can share unreleased tracks or sheet music
        • – Authors, writers and poets can gift signed PDFs, deleted scenes, or short personalized stories
        • – Podcasters can offer bonus episodes or behind the scenes recordings
        • – Photographers and visual artists can provide high res prints, timelapses, or concept sketches
        • – Models, influencers, and celebrities can share autographed images, wallpapers, or short shoutout videos
    • If you want to share a video as a gift for your Fans, simply upload a PDF or document with a clickable YouTube or Vimeo link — SQWAFFLE doesn’t host videos directly, but Fans can easily click through to watch.
    • Fans love gifts that are exclusive, personal, or give early access, so anything that makes them feel special works perfectly!
    • You can gift one or multiple fans.
    • Feedback is hidden so only you can see it. You can share any feedback you wish to promote your SQWAFFLE on your socials and newsletters. 

 

6. Sell Out Your SQWAFFLE!

Share your unique live SQWAFFLE URL on your socials and newsletters. Each SQWAFFLE is a unique opportunity to connect directly with your fans.

Your goal is to sell all the squares in your grid before time runs out.

Sell-out in time to unlock:

  • Larger grids (5x5, 6x6… 10x10 and beyond)
  • Higher price points (£5, £6… £10 and more. Or $, €)
  • Scheduling launches

Don’t panic! Even if you don’t sell out, you still receive your money from every sold square.

Selling-out a grid in your chosen timeframe is the only way to unlock bigger grids and higher price-points.

Heads up: you can have just one SQWAFFLE live at a time.

 

7. Get Paid

Important update for beta creators:

During our beta phase, payments are processed via PayPal, which applies temporary settlement holds to new marketplace accounts. As a result, creator payouts will be made on Fridays at 12 noon GMT, AFTER your grid duration ends and once the related customer payments have cleared PayPal. This is a standard early-stage safeguard and will be removed as soon as PayPal releases settlement holds. Thank you for helping us shape the platform during beta. We’ll keep you informed as this improves.

SQWAFFLE GUIDE: Getting Started for Fans (Buyers)

Welcome to SQWAFFLE! The progressive grid system where creativity is squared, and fans like you unlock the magic. Here, your support goes directly to real human creators, helping sustain genuine artistry in an age increasingly flooded by generative AI, which we proudly stand against.

 

Here’s how it works in 6 quick steps:

Step 1. Pick a Sqwaffler

Browse active grids and choose a creator (aka Sqwaffler) whose work you love; music, art, books, podcasts, photography and more.

 

Step 2. Select a Square

Click on any available square in the grid.

Squares are first-come, first-served. Each square sold helps the creator sell out their full grid.

The square is symbolic! What you are really buying is the creator’s full content.

 

Step 3. Get the Full Download

Once you buy a square, you instantly unlock the entire project the creator has uploaded, not just one piece.

    • Full album or track
    • Entire eBook or chapter
    • High-res art print or photograph to print at home
    • Podcast episode or interview

 

Step 4. Leave Fan Feedback (Optional)

If the creator enabled the Gift feature, you’ll see the option to leave a short message of appreciation.

At the end of their live SQWAFFLE, they’ll choose their FFF: Favourite Fan Feedback.

FFFs may receive a digital gift, like personalised or other exclusive downloads!

 

Step 5. Revisit Anytime

All purchases are saved in your Fan Dashboard as a link where you can download anytime (you have three download attempts, so make sure your internet connection is stable!). 

 

Step 6. Respect the Community

SQWAFFLE is for fans age 16 and up. (Certain SQWAFFLEs may be set at 18+)

We are a community that values human-made creativity, kindness, and respectful interaction.

If you spot potentially harmful content, you can click the three dots alongside the title of any live grid and “Report”, and we’ll investigate. Do not abuse this system or we may suspend/terminate your account.

Each time you sell out a grid, you unlock:

    • The next grid size (more squares = more buyers),

Example 1. For Authors

    • Launch a 4x4 SQWAFFLE with the opening chapters of your book at £4. This gives your readers an entry-level teaser product.
    • When it ends, launch a 5x5 with the remaining chapters and the foreword for £5. After selling out…
    • You’ll unlock a 6x6 SQWAFFLE and £6 price-point. Offer an author commentary or world-building content to enhance the story for your readers. Sell-out to…
    • Unlock a 7x7 grid and £7 price-point. Go deep: give alternative endings and/or deleted scenes for your dedicated fans. Sell-out to unlock…
    • An 8x8 grid and £8 price-point. This is where your Fans can get the audiobook.

    • At 4x4, offer the main track from your new album for £4.

How the SQWAFFLE’S Stack-up! 

Here’s a possible path for a creator based on the above samples:

  • Your 4x4 grid at £4 per download/square = 16 squares = £64 gross.
  • At completion, you’ll unlock: Your 5x5 at £5 per download/square = 25 squares = £125 gross.
  • You must sell this out within your chosen time to unlock: The 6x6 grid, £6 per download = 36 squares = £216 gross.
  • A successful sell-out unlocks: The 7x7 grid, £7 per download = 49 squares = £343 gross.
  • Sell-out unlocks: The 8x8 grid, £8 per download = 64 squares = £512 gross.
  • At this point, your hard work and the support of your Fans has grossed £1260. Less our commission at 15% + processing, gives you approximately £1000 in your pocket (or $, €).

Remember, even if you don’t sell out, you still receive your money from every sold square.

Selling-out is the only way to unlock bigger grids and higher price-points.

      • Use Duration Wisely: As you level up, use shorter durations for drops (e.g., 3 or 7 days).
